The week before it was reported to us the bass were on beds and caught on shore but for us they were off the beds. After a couple days though they got hungry!  Day 4 we caught over 350 bass!  Most in 1lb-3lb range with a handful over 4lbs!  We fished Walleye and while numbers weren't the best the quality was. We caught 5 walleye over 26".  Pike were numerous but we didn't get any big ones. The Jones, Eltrut, Turtle River system is a HUGE body of water so we fished a small percentage of it! Great time and we will definitely fish with GNO again in the future.

Lake: Highrock Lake

Dates: 5/22-5/26/2024

Group Name: Simon

Guest Comments:  This was our first time fishing Highrock lake.  We had a great trip despite the weather.  The rain, cool temperatures and wind made fishing difficult but we still caught numerous walleyes and northern.  The walleyes were caught primarily jigging with live minnows on rocky points.  The average size was rather small be we did catch a number of fish over 20 inches with the largest measuring 27 inches.  We caught a number of northern over 32 inches.  Most of the northern were caught casting spoons.  We did catch two northern that attacked our walleye as we were reeling them in.  We will definitely be back to Highrock and hope for more favorable weather on our next trip!

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 5/19-5/24/2024

Group Name: Combs

Guest Comments:  Our stay at Jones Lake was fantastic!  Had a nasty cold front come through with 2+ inches of rain that put the fish down a little, but we still caught lots of quality fish!  We caught many smallies over 20" using grubs with orange and chartreuse, as well as blue/silver rattle traps.  Some baits worked on the walleyes with several over 25" landed.  The pike were feisty with several over 35" and one at 41".  They were caught with a variety of swim baits, rattle traps, and a few spinners.  The rapids above Jones produced some huge fish and lots of them.  Seemed like the bass were preparing to start nesting when the cold front put them back down a little.

Plenty of wildlife to view with a moose showing her twins off in the morning, black bear on way to Eltrut, and a wolf showing up at the portage along the rapids.  Lots of geese, ducks, swans, and visiting pelicans.  We ate walleye every night!  We will be back net opener!

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 5/18-5/24/2024

Group Name: Rosner/Todd

Guest Comments:  This was the worst weather in 21 years of our Canada trips.  We could only fish 4 of the 6 days because of the wind.  Walleye  fishing was slow but the ones we caught were over 20" average.  Smallmouth bass males were moving in 2-3' of water with the big females a little deeper.  We caught lots of those.  Lake trout were biting all week.  Caught those every day fishing for other species.  The day we fished lake trout we slayed them.  Same with northerns but we did not fish for them, but caught a lot of 20-30" biggest being 34".  Nothing huge.  Great lake.  We learned a lot more about it this year being our second trip to Trout Lake.  Really think could have caught more walleyes if the weather would have been better.

Lake: Highrock Lake

Dates: 5/18-5/22/2024

Group Name: Toivonen

Guest Comments:  Highrock lake again was a very productive 4 days of fishing.  Numerous walleye in 5 to 12 feet of water off rocky points and sandy bottom river inflows.  The average walleye size was down this year with many fish in the 12-14 inch size class.  Biggest walleye was 23 inches but multiple fish over 20 inches.  Walleye were primarily caught on a jig and a minnow.    Many northern including two fish that grabbed walleye at the side of the boat on a stringer.  Biggest northern pike was 37 inches, but several others in the 34- 35 inch size.  Big smallmouth bass were frequent on the shores hitting soft plastics.

Our weather was erratic changing frequently during the day and this impacted the overall fishing but as always, Highrock lake never fails to put fish in the boat in quality and quantity

Lake: Dogfly Lake

Dates: 5/12-5/17/2024

Group Name: Cusentino

Guest Comments:  The new cabin was very nice, big upgrade from the original cabin..  Fishing was excellent.  Took a little to figure out the smallmouth, but once did, it was fish on!  Caught a bunch of lakers and nice pike.  Largest pike was a fat 40".  We will be back!
