Our remote fly in outpost on Eric Lake is our farthest and newest outpost camp and is located on the Kenorain River system, a tributary of the Turtle River. This shallow stained water lake is highly productive and offers excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass. The lake is approximately 2 miles long by 1 mile wide. It has multiple feeder streams entering the lake and one flowage exiting making it a constant producer. Eric is most noted for its walleye and pike fishery with smallmouth bass being a bonus, it will rival any lake despite its size.
The walleye fishing is excellent for both size and numbers. They can be caught on the many weed lines, rock points, and reefs on the lake. Jigs or Lindy Rigs are excellent for fishing all the weed lines for these tastey fish. Most walleye caught will be in the 18-24" range with many numerous trophies being caught in the 30" class each year. It can be challenging some days to find the eater size fish under 18".
The pike fishery is fantastic with many pike in the 40" class being caught and released every year with most pike averaging 4-8#. These aggressive fish are primarily found in the weed beds around the lake feeding on the unsuspecting walleye.
After you get your fill of catching pike and walleye, test your gear on the monster smallmouth bass. The smallmouth bass in the lake can be caught on the rocky shorelines, points, and reefs. While it does not produce the numbers of smallmouth as some of our lakes, the size caught is excellent. Most smallmouth caught will be in the 2-4# range with some topping out near 6#.
Eric is a great multi species lake with above average trophy potential for all species. This smaller lake offers a lot for its size. It is a great lake for novice or pro with its great fishing and ease of navigating. You can also access 2 other lakes depending your ambition and water levels via creeks and pulling over beaver dams for more walleye, smallmouth bass, and pike fishing. Be sure to reserve your spot today, this remote outpost cabin is a favorite for many fishermen that want seclusion and great fishing in the Canadian wilderness.
